Armenian travertine

01 ORIGIN

Where the stone comes from

Our own stone: a warm, light tone and a porous surface that light settles into instead of bouncing off.

02 GEOLOGY

How it is built

A calcareous tufa: a sedimentary rock built from calcite laid down by spring water. Hence the porous structure and the bedding — the pattern of the stone depends on the direction of the cut.

CHARACTER

  1. A warm range

A warm, light tone — the character of travertine from the Ararat deposit.

  2. A living surface

A porous surface, alive in texture: light settles into the stone instead of bouncing off it.

  3. Our own quarry

Selection starts at the face: colour and structure are judged before the first cut.
